译文
我所思的仙人，在碧海之东。
那里海寒多天风，掀起的巨浪可以冲倒蓬莱和方壶。
巨大的鲸鱼喷涌出清泉，像白茫茫的泪珠。由于长鲸的阻隔，这个地方根本无人可以到达。
只有西王母的青鸟可以东飞渡海而去，我想托青鸟寄一封书信，捎给碧海之东的仙女麻姑。
注释
有所思：乐府旧题。《乐府诗集》卷十七列于《鼓吹曲辞·汉铙歌》。《乐府古题要解》：“《有所思》其词大略言：‘有所思，乃在大海南。何用问遗君，双珠玳瑁簪。闻君有他心，烧之当风扬其灰。从今已往，勿复相思。’”
仙：一作“佳”。
碧海：《海内十洲记》：“扶桑在东海之东岸。岸直，陆行登岸一万里，东复有碧海。海广狭浩汗，与东海等。水既不咸苦，正作碧色，甘香味美。”东隅：东角；东方。
山：一作“天”。蓬壶：即蓬莱，古代传说中的海中仙山。
长鲸：巨大的鲸鱼。晋左思《吴都赋》：“长鲸吞航，修鲵吐浪。”此处是比喻用法。
抚心：抚摸胸口，表示感叹。
青鸟：神话传说为西王母使者。
麻姑：传说中的女神仙。

有所思鉴赏
一腔忠贞而不被体察，满怀抱负而无从得施，这是封建社会中许多知识分子的共同悲剧。文学是社会生活的反映。但对于具体的作家而言，当着社会生活的内容有不敢直说、不便明言者时，这种反映往往是曲折、隐晦的。屈原“信而见疑，忠而被谤”，因此在《离骚》中“上下而求素”，出入于风伯日驭之间，去寻找自己的理想。正是从他开始，中国文学中出现了以游仙的形式来表现政治内容、抒发生活感慨的传统。这一传统，在魏晋时期得到了全面继承，而到了李白手中，又得到了进一步发展。此篇在李白的游仙诗中，不算最出色的，但仍可以从一个侧面反映出他运用这种形式所取得的成就。
一起两句，开门见山，点出所思对象及其所在地点。据《十洲记》云；“东海之东登岸一万里，东复有碧海，广狭浩汗，与东海等。水既不咸苦，正作碧色，甘香味美。”碧海在东海之东一万里，而仙人又在碧海之东隅，可见其远。碧海之水“甘香味美”，迥别于人间，可见仙人居处的奇异、优美。诗人于仙人不能不萦之于心，而于路途的遥远、凶险亦不能不念念于怀，因而逗出下面数句。
接着诗人列举了四事，说明欲至仙人居处的“碧海之东隅”的凶险程度。首先是气温低寒，其次是海风凶狂。风狂则浪大：“白波连山倒蓬壶”（木华《海赋》：“波如连山。”），更别提还有凶猛的怪物作祟了：“长鲸喷涌不可涉”。由于这层层险阻，诗人痛感无望的悲哀，于是只好“抚心茫茫泪如珠”了。
去既不能，罢亦不忍，“奈何天，伤怀日，寂寥时”，终竟是意难平。那么，这一份惓惓之情便只有托那神奇的青鸟代为传递了。青鸟是西王母的信使，见《汉武故事》。麻姑是传说中的一位美丽的仙女，见《神仙传》。这里，诗人请青鸟代为向麻姑（即篇首的“仙人”）表示歉意：他不是不想去，实在是去不成。
从李白的生平经历来看这首诗，它的寓意相当明显。可以说，它反映了李白追求美好的理想，虽遭权奸们的诋毁，而始终惓惓情切的真实处境，浓缩了这位伟大诗人一生的遭遇，是不能把它当作一般的游仙诗看待的。
《有所思》是一个古题，出自汉乐府。用此题者，一般但言男女离思。而李白将其引入游仙，将所思对象改为仙人，并赋予整首诗以深刻的寓意，不能不说是用古题写出了新意，从一个侧面也反映出了诗人的创造力。

李白（701年－762年），字太白，号青莲居士，唐朝浪漫主义诗人，被后人誉为“诗仙”。祖籍陇西成纪(待考)，出生于西域碎叶城，4岁再随父迁至剑南道绵州。李白存世诗文千余篇，有《李太白集》传世。762年病逝，享年61岁。其墓在今安徽当涂，四川江油、湖北安陆有纪念馆。
