宋朝初年，翰林学士陶谷自以为文笔高超、才能出众，想好好表现一下升职，他劝宋太祖重视文字工作。赵匡胤以为他的工作只是抄写而已，说是依样画葫芦。陶谷的目的没有达到，就在住处墙上题诗：“堪笑翰林陶学士，年年依样画葫芦”
