肝脑涂地的典故

汉高祖刘邦战胜项羽，平定中原后，就和群臣商议建都一事。由于群臣们都是华山以东的人士，都说：“周朝建都洛阳，世祚（zuò）传了数百年；秦朝建都咸阳，传位不过二代就亡了，所以应建都洛阳。”汉高祖犹豫不定。

汉高祖五年，刘邦巡幸洛阳，有个叫娄敬的人，请求晋见皇上。娄敬问皇上：“陛下想建都洛阳，难道是想和周朝较量兴隆的盛况吗？”皇上说：“不错。”娄敬说：“陛下获取天下和周朝不同。周武王的祖先积德行善几十年，人们愿意跟随他，没有经过多少杀戮，便取得了天下。陛下从丰沛起事，统兵三千，经历无数战斗而席卷蜀汉地区，平定三秦，又和项羽抗衡决战中原。就拿成皋孤城之争来说，经历大战七十、小战四十，让天下无辜百姓肝脑涂地，尸满遍野，哭泣之声不绝于耳。那些受创伤的人还没有复原，你就想和西周较量兴隆盛世，我私下以为陛下不能这样做啊！”

汉高祖终于采纳娄敬的建议，取消了建都洛阳的念头，并赐娄敬为刘姓，故史称之为刘敬。
