秦朝末年，家境贫寒的陈平爱好道表法里的黄老之术，他担任过魏王咎的太仆，项羽的都尉，刘邦的军中尉。他献计使项羽疏远谋士范增，汉朝建立后，他被封为曲逆侯，历任惠帝、吕后、文帝三朝丞相，他能应付各种情况并能善始善终。
