伤风败俗的典故

唐宪宗时，佛教盛行，连宪宗也笃信佛教。有一次，宪宗把传说是佛祖释迦牟尼的一块遗骨迎进宫内供奉。韩愈反对宪宗这一做法，特地写了《论佛骨表》，呈交给宪宗进行谏阻。在《论佛骨表》中，韩愈说：佛教是从外国传来的，中国古时候根本没有。尧、舜、禹等古代圣人不知道有什么佛教，但他们把国家治理得很好；他们在位的时间长，寿命也很长。佛教是从东汉明帝时期传人中国的，明帝在位只有18年，宋、齐、梁、陈和北魏后的各个朝代，对佛教无比信奉，但那些朝代的命都很短。就拿梁武帝来说吧，他祭相不用牲畜，自己不吃荤，还三次出家当和尚，结果还是被叛军包围，活活饿死。他本想求佛得到保佑，但却悲惨死去。现在，陛下把佛骨迎到宫里来供奉，使王公大臣们奔走施舍，浪费大量的财富。有的百姓愚昧无知，甚至发狂地烧的自己的身体，以表示自己对佛的虔诚。这败坏风俗的事，会被人们当作笑话四处传播，可不是一件小事啊！依我看来，应当把那块佛骨扔进水里或者投入火中才是！
