过门不入的典故

上古时代，曾出现过一次大洪水，长达20多年，受灾面积很大。

当时正是舜当政期间，他派（治水未遂而被尧处死的鲧的儿子）禹去治水。禹吸取了其父治水的教训，采用疏通的方法，依地形规划水道，引洪水入河、入海，终于平定了洪水。

然而治水过程中还有几段插曲：禹到了30多岁还没结婚，在涂山（今浙江绍兴县西北）遇到一个名叫女娇的姑娘，两人相互十分爱慕，便成了亲。可婚后4天禹就出去治水了。

治水13年中，禹曾3次经过自己的家门，一次孩子还在襁褓中哭；一次孩子刚学会喊爸爸；还一次孩子已长大，要留下父亲。而禹一次也没进入自己的家门，因为时间太过匆忙了。
